WhimsicalDespite of my site name and DA account, I don't love only pastel colours and cute scenes. Sometime I strongly need to explore the dark side of the story: lonliness, silence, dark and shadows, tears and sadness, terror and tension, melancholy. Someone told me these works seem to be inspired by Burton but I don't think so; I don't like Burton so much, the decision to explore the dark side is born after Coraline Movie and after my journey in Wales and Scotland ,where I visited some amazing graveyards. I felt so quiet and it was so peaceful I fell in love with old graves, thickets and thorns around the tree and the graves. That's because I understood death is a part of life, as dark is a part of light. Commentslove this gallery. i love Coraline, though someone borrowed my book and never returned it. I'm still heartbroken.
Oh too funny, I often get the Burton comments too, though I have a wide variety of styles..my shadow poeople and skeletons get those remarks alot!
it's quite common when someone try a darker style or mix it with a feminine style (swirls and sparkles for example
I started to draw with this style after "Coraline" then |
